Dear Poets:
We are now just two days away from launching the celebration of our 5th World Poetry Day Festival, an event into which all of us have poured all the care and dedication that our Lady, Poetry, so richly deserves. As far as we know, this is a celebration without precedent in world history. Throughout the 24 hours of this day, more than four hundred poets will raise our voices to dignify, through our words, the very language in which we write our dreams, our anxieties, and our deepest desires. In the world we inhabit today, the simple act of writing, reading, or listening to poetry constitutes an act of resistance against those political and religious powers that—in their delusion of omnipotence—set out to destroy human life, the environment, beauty, and the rich history of the peoples of the earth.
Included with this message, you will find several essential documents:
1- The General Program, featuring a list of all participating poets within each of the 50 segments or groups. (Unfortunately some names are not included because we have not received the list of the poets who are going to participate in those groups. We could not delay publication of this program any longer; we therefore trust that the respective coordinators will duly share this information with their groups.) If you sent the names of the poets but you are not sure that you sent their emails please make sure all members of your group receive this information.
2- The link to Google Drive, where you can locate your group and utilize the poster we have prepared for you to promote the event on your social media channels—encouraging relatives, friends, and foes alike (as well as acquaintances and strangers) to join us in this celebration of the inherent beauty of the poetic word. If you do not find your group listed at that link, it is because we have not yet managed to complete your specific poster. Please check back later until we finish it. Remember that we undertake all this work for the sake of World Poetry—entirely without financial resources of any kind—and each of us has our own jobs, family obligations, or health matters that require our attention. 3- A brief promotion which is already circulating on Facebook regarding the festival—filling the social media sphere with music and proclaiming the delightful madness into which we have plunged: the endeavor to infuse the world and life itself with poetry, thereby delivering a swift kick to those who sow ugliness, lies, and death against the peoples of the world and their cultures. 4- For those participating via Zoom, here is the link you have to click about 30 minutes before your time to share the spotlight: https://gmu.zoom.us/j/2214081976. Although our technicians will guide you once you enter, please read the guidelines before Saturday otherwise you will be asking questions that are addressed there. READ THE GUIDELINES!

Estamos ya a solo dos días de iniciar la celebración del Día Mundial de la Poesía con este V Festival en el que llevamos poniendo nosotros y ustedes todo el esmero que se merece nuestra señora, la Poesía. Que nosotros sepamos, esta es una fiesta sin precedentes en la historia del mundo. Durante las 24 horas de este día, más de cuatrocientos poetas alzaremos nuestras voces para dignificar con la palabra la lengua con la que escribimos nuestros sueños, ansiedades y deseos más hondos. En el mundo que estamos viviendo en estos momentos, el simple acto de escribir, leer o escuchar poesía es un acto de enfrentamiento a los poderes políticos o religiosos que, creyéndose omnipotentes, se lanzan a destruir la vida humana, el medio ambiente, la belleza y la rica historia de los pueblos de la tierra.
En este mensaje, les estamos incluyendo varios documentos esenciales:
1- El Programa General con la lista de todos los poetas participantes en cada uno de los 50 segmentos o grupos. (Desafortunadamente algunos no están incluidos porque todavía no hemos recibido la lista de los poetas que conforman esos grupos. No podíamos esperar más tiempo para publicar este programa, así que esperamos que sus coordinadores compartan adecuadamente esta información con sus grupos). Si ustedes enviaron los nombres de los poetas pero no recuerdan si enviaron sus emails, asegúrense de que comparten con ellos esta información.
2- El enlace a Google Drive en el que pueden entrar, buscar su grupo y utilizar el afiche que hemos preparado para que hagan publicidad por sus redes para que parientes, amigos y enemigos, así como conocidos y desconocidos se unan a nosotros en esta celebración de la justa belleza de la palabra poética. Si no encuentran su grupo en ese enlace es porque todavía no hemos logrado completar su afiche. Vuelvan allí más tarde hasta que podamos completarlo. Recuerden que hacemos todo este trabajo por la Poesía del mundo sin recursos financieros de ninguna índole y cada uno de nosotros tiene su trabajo u obligaciones familiares o de salud que tiene que cuidar. 3- Un breve anuncio del festival que ya anda por Facebook musicalizando las redes y anunciando la locura en la que nos hemos metido de tratar de poetizar el mundo y la vida dándole así un puntapié a los que siembran la fealdad, la mentira y la muerte contra los pueblos de la tierra y sus culturas.
